The latest National Statistics on registers of people with disabilities, produced by the Local Government Data Unit ~ Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government, were released on 28 October 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on disability registers include data for Wales at 31 March 2008. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 29 October 2008.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • There were 14,100 people on registers of people with learning disabilities.
  • There were 81,000 people on registers of people with physical or sensory disabilities. Of these, 50,200 were registered as having a physical disability only.
