The latest provisional statistics on referral to treatment times produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 12 November 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • For patients admitted to hospital for treatment in September 2009, 92% had waited less than 26 weeks from referral to treatment and 98% had waited less than 36 weeks from referral to treatment.
  • For patients receiving hospital treatment in September 2009 (not requiring admission to hospital), 95% had waited less than 26 weeks from referral to treatment and 98% had waited less than 36 weeks from referral to treatment.
  • For Cardiac referral to treatment, 147 patients who were treated in September 2009 had waited more than 26 weeks from referral to treatment (4.7%). There were 31 patients who had waited over 36 weeks for cardiac treatment.
