Time Spent in NHS Accident and Emergency Departments, October 2009
The latest statistics on Time Spent in Accident and Emergency Departments produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 19 November 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning October 2008 through to October 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 22 October 2009.
The Release

The key points from the latest release are:
- 90.1 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 2 percentage points compared with September.
- 98.4 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points compared with September.
All figures relating to October 2009 are provisional.
