Time Spent in NHS Accident and Emergency Departments, October 2009

Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning October 2008 through to October 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 22 October 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

• 90.1 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 2 percentage points compared with September.
• 98.4 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 0.6 percentage points compared with September.

All figures relating to October 2009 are provisional.
