Ambulance Services, October 2009

Statistics on ambulance services in Wales include data for October 2009.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 4 November.

The key points from the latest release are:

• there were almost 28,000 emergency calls, up 4.6% compared with October 2008;
• 66.4% of first responses to Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls arrived within 8 minutes, 71.1% within 9 minutes and 75.1% within 10 minutes;
• 91.2% of  Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls and 81.7% of  Category B (all other emergency) calls resulted in an ambulance arriving at the scene within the target times;
• 77.2% of urgent journeys arrived not more than 15 minutes later than the requested arrival time.
