The latest National Statistics on Cancer Waiting times produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 2nd December 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on Cancer waiting times include data for Welsh NHS Trusts for the quarter up to the end of September 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 2nd September 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • 91% of patients newly diagnosed with cancer via the Urgent Suspected Cancer route started definitive treatment within 2 months of receipt of referral at the hospital.
  • 98% of patients newly diagnosed with cancer not via the Urgent Suspected Cancer route started definitive treatment within 1 month of diagnosis.
