The latest statistics on GP Referrals produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 6 January 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on GP Referrals received at Welsh Local Health Boards for a first out-patient appointment include data for Wales for the period November 2008 to November 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 2 December 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number of GP Referrals for a first out-patient appointment received at Welsh Local Health Boards was 59,392 in November 2009
  • This is a 10.8% increase compared to November 2008 and a 7.3% decrease compared to October 2009, at an all Wales level.

All figures relating to November 2009 are provisional.
