NHS Waiting Times: At End December 2009

The latest statistics on NHS waiting times produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 27th January 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on NHS Wales waiting times for admission as an inpatient or day case and for a first outpatient appointment include data for Welsh residents waiting for NHS funded treatment as at the end of December 2009. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 22nd December 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number waiting over 14 weeks on the inpatient/day case list rose over the month from 8,292 to 10,016 and the number waiting over 22 weeks rose over the month from 1,889 to 2,243.
  • The number waiting over 10 weeks on the outpatient list rose over the month from 22,332 to 28,527 and the number waiting over 22 weeks rose over the month from 883 to 1,633. (Excluding Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).
