Time Spent in NHS Accident and Emergency Departments, May 2010

Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning May 2009 through to May 2010. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 20 May 2010.

The key points from the latest release are:

• 87.3 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, an increase of 1.7 percentage points compared with April.
• 97.4 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared with April.

All figures relating to May 2010 are provisional.
