Health Maps Wales, Update November 2010

Release 6 of the mapping tool Health Maps Wales is available from 24th November 2010. This update gives access to more information than previously available. The website is provided by NHS Wales Informatics Service on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government.

Health Maps Wales includes data on:

  • Hospital admissions (updated with 2009/10 data)
  • Cancer incidence
  • Mortality including  cancer mortality, injury mortality, cardiovascular disease mortality, respiratory disease mortality
  • General fertility rates and births (revisions of birth weight data)
  • Child immunisation
  • Child Dental Health
  • Deaths and admissions associated with alcohol

The majority of these rates can be mapped across Wales at Middle Super Output level (areas with between 5,000 and 11,000 residents) and for individual years, some however are only available for combined years or at higher geographical levels due to the size of the numbers.   Also, data can now be mapped to the new Local Health Boards.
