Referrals, Assessments and Social Services for Children, 2010-11

Statistics on referrals, assessments and social services for children include data for Wales for the period up to the end of March 2011. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 22 September 2010.

Key points from the latest release are:

• Local authorities received 47,600 referrals and completed 24,500 initial assessments.
• 29 per cent of referrals were for children who had previously been referred to the same local authority.
• 2,900 children were registered on local authority Child Protection Registers (CPRs) at 31 March 2011.
