Referral to Treatment Times, February 2012

The latest release includes data for the period up to the end of February 2012 and updates the statistics previously released on 8 March 2012.

The key points from the latest release are:

• By the end of February, a total of 376,686 patients were waiting for the start of their treatment. Of those patients waiting for their treatment, 93.1 per cent have been waiting less than 26 weeks and 98.7 per cent have been waiting less than 36 weeks from the date the referral letter was received in the hospital.
• A total of 81,628 patients were treated during February. Of those patients, 81.9 per cent were treated within 26 weeks and 95.2 per cent were treated within 36 weeks of the date the referral letter was received in the hospital.  

Information on specialties not covered by referral to treatment times reporting is also presented in the release.

Statistics on a range of waiting times in the NHS in Wales are now published together. ‘NHS Wales Diagnostic and Therapy Services waiting times: End February 2012’ is also published today.
