The latest statistics on GP Referrals produced by the Welsh Government were released on 4 July 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on GP Referrals received at Welsh Local Health Boards for a first outpatient appointment include data for Wales for the periodMay 2010 toMay 2012. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 7 June 2012.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number of GP referrals for a first outpatient appointment received at a Welsh Local Health Board was 71,476 in May 2012;
  • This is an 11.1% increase compared with May 2011 and an 18.3% increase compared with April 2012, at an all Wales level.

All figures relating to May 2012 are provisional.
