The latest provisional National Statistics on referral to treatment times produced by the Welsh Government were released on 11 October 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website The latest release includes data for the period up to the end of August 2012 and updates the statistics previously released on 13 September 2012.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • By the end of August, a total of 406,686 patients were waiting for the start of their treatment. Of those patients waiting for their treatment, 91.9 per cent had been waiting less than 26 weeks and 99.2 per cent had been waiting less than 36 weeks from the date the referral letter was received in the hospital.
  • A total of 81,551 patients were treated during August. Of those patients, 82.7 per cent were treated within 26 weeks and 96.2 per cent were treated within 36 weeks of the date the referral letter was received in the hospital.

Information on specialties not covered by referral to treatment times reporting is also presented in the release.
