The latest statistics on GP Referrals produced by the Welsh Government were released on 7 November 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on GP Referrals received at Welsh Local Health Boards for a first outpatient appointment include data for Wales for the period May 2012 to September 2012. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 3 October 2012.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • The number of GP referrals for a first outpatient appointment received at a Welsh Local Health Board was 59,226 in September 2012;
  • This is a 6.6% decrease compared with August 2012, at an all Wales level.

All figures relating to September 2012 are provisional.
