The latest quarterly publication of the numbers of regulated settings and places in Wales were released on 27 February 2013 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

The statistics on regulated settings and places are at local authority level by setting type and include data for Wales at quarterly intervals, from 31 March 2011 to 31 December 2012.

The information is published in line with protocols on publishing official statistics and will be available on StatsWales, the Welsh Government’s data dissemination tool.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • 6,174 service settings were regulated by CSSIW at 31 December 2012, a decrease of 10 (less than one percent) from 6,184 service settings at 30 September 2012
  • 105,260 places were registered with CSSIW at 31 December 2012, an increase of 30 places since the end of previous quarter
