Private Sector Renewal Activity 2005-06

This Statistical Release presents information collected about Private Sector Renewal Activity for the year 2005-06. It also presents comparisons with figures for earlier periods.

Key results for 2005-06:

• Overall, local authorities in Wales spent £89.6 million on providing help to private owners and to tenants in their area for home improvement and repair. This was
  6 per cent more than in 2004-05.
• Expenditure on activity under the 2002 Order was £49.9 million.
• During 2005-06, 5,268 Mandatory Disabled Facilities grants, with a total value of £35.4 million, were completed by local authorities in Wales.
• The total value of residual payments on completed grants under the 1996 Act (excluding Mandatory DFGs) during 2005-06 was £4.2 million.
• Eleven group repair type schemes were completed covering 212 dwellings and with an estimated total cost of £5.4 million.
• There were 31 Renewal areas in operation during 2005-06 and local authorities spent £36.0 million on these areas, an increase of 10 per cent from the previous year.
