The revised version of the latest National Statistics on Private Sector renewal Activity produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 21 May 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on Private Sector Renewal Activity  funded by local authorities include data for Wales for the period 2006-07. The latest release revises the statistics previously released on 28th November 2007.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Overall, local authorities in Wales spent £102.9 million on providing help to private owners and to tenants in their area for home improvement and repair. This was 18(r) per cent more than in 2005-06.
  • Expenditure on activity under the 2002 Order was £59.8 million.
  • During 2006-07, 5,899 Mandatory Disabled Facilities grants (DFGs), with a total value of £40.5 million, were completed by local authorities in Wales.  
  • The total value of residual payments on completed grants under the 1996 Act (excluding Mandatory DFGs) during 2006-07 was £2.6 million.
  • Thirteen(r) group repair type schemes were completed covering 193(r) dwellings and with an estimated total cost of £4.0(r) million.
  • There were 34 Renewal areas in operation during 2006-07 and local authorities spent £29.3 million on these areas, a decrease of 6(r) per cent from the previous year.
