Registered Social Landlords: Statutory Sales, January to March 2009

The latest National Statistics on statutory sales of registered social landlord (RSL) dwellings produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 17 June 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on the number of statutory sales of registered social landlord (RSL) dwellings completed in Wales include data for the quarter January to March 2009.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 18 March 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • During the January to March quarter 2009 there were 3 statutory sales of registered social landlord dwellings, all of which were sold via Right to Buy.
  • The total number of sales has decreased by 7 (70 per cent) from the October to December 2008 figure, and decreased by 18 (86 per cent) from the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
  • On an annual basis, statutory sales have been falling since the peak in 2004-05. However sales during 2008-09 remained unchanged from the previous year with 52 completed statutory sales.
  • Since October 1980, a total of 2,454 RSL dwellings have been sold via statutory sales, 96 per cent of which have been sold via Right to Buy.
