The latest revised National Statistics on Private Sector Renewal Activity produced by the Welsh Government were released on 7 September 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on Private Sector Renewal Activity in Wales include data for the year 2010- 11.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 16 September 2010.

The key points from the 2010-11 release show:

  • Almost £58 million was spent on private sector renewal during 2010-11. Of this, 96 per cent (£56 million) was provided directly by local authorities through grants and loans, which is similar to the proportion provided in 2009-10.
  • In 2010-11, expenditure on Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) was almost £35 million. This was an increase compared to 2009-10, when the figure was £33 million.
  • There were 36 renewal areas in operation during 2010-11, containing 49,400 dwellings. Altogether around £41 million was spent on these areas during 2010-11, a decrease of 6 per cent on the 2009-10 figure of £45 million.
