Assembly Learning Grants Awarded to Welsh Domiciled Students in Further Education, 2008/09
This Statistical Release presents information on the number of Assembly Learning Grants (ALGs) awarded to Welsh domiciled students in Further Education in academic year 2008/09. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 31 March 2009.

Key points for 2008/09 from the release are:
- 6,690 students in Further Education applied for an Assembly Learning Grant as at end July 2009, an increase of 8 per cent compared with 2007/08.
- 5,250 applications were successful (79 per cent of applications), an increase of 2 per cent compared with 2007/08.
- 70 per cent of all applications and 87 per cent of successful applications were from full time students.
- £5.8 million has been paid to date to FE students in ALGs, an increase of 2 per cent compared with 2007/08.
Note: With regard to Table 2, an ‘r’ denotes a figure that has been revised since the previous release (October 2008), as a result of new information being made available, to ensure comparability with latest data.
