National Comparators for Further Education and Work-Based Learning, 2008/09

The latest statistics on learner outcomes for Further Education (FE) and Work-Based Learning (WBL) produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on the 13 May 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on learner outcomes at FE institutions and WBL providers include data for Wales for the period 2008/09. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 21 May 2009.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Improvements, at a sector level, in all measures of learner outcomes between 2007/08 and 2008/09.
  • The overall learning activity success rate for FE in 2008/09 was 76 per cent, i.e. around three quarters of activities were successfully completed and attained.
  • WBL framework success rates were 73 per cent and 76 per cent in Modern Apprenticeship (MA) and Foundation Modern Apprenticeship (FMA) programmes respectively.
