The latest statistics on pupils aged 15 leaving education without a recognised qualification produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 2 December 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on pupils aged 15 leaving education without a recognised qualification include data for Wales for the period 2004/05 to 2008/09.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 2 December 2008.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • In 2008/09, 333 15-year-olds left full time education without a recognised qualification. This is lower than the 2007/08 total of 608.
  • Expressed as a percentage of the cohort 0.9 per cent of pupils left full time education without a recognised qualification in 2008/09, lower than in 2007/08.
  • A greater percentage of boys than girls left without a qualification: 1.0 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively.
