The latest National Statistics on National Curriculum Assessments of core subjects for Wales 2011 produced by the Welsh Government were released on 16 August 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website In 2010 and previous years the title of the Release was ‘National Curriculum Assessments of 7, 11 and 14 year olds’.

Statistics on National Curriculum Assessment results at Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 include final data Wales for the 2011 teacher assessments.  

Key Stage 1

  • Results are higher for all subjects when compared to 2010, and higher by almost 3 percentage points for each subject than in 1999.

Key Stage 2

  • Results are higher for all subjects when compared to 2010, and higher by almost 12 percentage points for each subject than they were in 1999.

Key Stage 3

  • Results are higher in all subjects when compared to 2010, and higher by almost 10 percentage points for each subject than they were in 1999.

Gender differences

  • Girls outperform boys in each core subject and key stage.

Benchmark information tables are also available for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 (core and non-core subjects). The benchmarking tables were revised on 14 December 2011
