The latest National Statistics on Examination Results produced by the Welsh Government were released on 6 October 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on Examination Results include data for Wales for the period 2001/02 to 2010/11.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 30 November 2010.

The key points from the latest release are:

15 year olds

  • 50 per cent achieved the Level 2 threshold including a GCSE grade A*-C in English or Welsh first language and mathematics, slightly higher (0.2 percentage points) than in 2009/10;
  • 1 per cent achieved no recognised qualification.

17 year olds

  • 96 per cent of those entering a volume equivalent to 2 A levels achieved the Level 3 threshold, 1 percentage point higher than in 2009/10.
