The latest National Statistics on ‘Assessment Performance in Wales: Comparison with England and its Regions, 2011’ produced by the Welsh Government were released on 26 June 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Statistics on ‘Assessment Performance in Wales: Comparison with England and its Regions, 2011’ include data for England and Wales for the period covering the 2010/11 academic year.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 28 June 2011.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Key Stage 1: The proportion of pupils in Wales achieving the expected level was slightly lower than England in all subjects with the exception of Science, where the average for Wales was slightly higher at 90 per cent.
  • Key Stage 2: Pupils in Wales performed better than their counterparts in England in all subjects.
  • Key Stage 3: The proportion of pupils in Wales achieving the expected level was lower than England for all subjects.
