Internet Usage in Wales: Results from the Living in Wales Survey 2007

A National Statistics bulletin on Internent Usage in Wales produced by the Welsh Assembly Government was released on 10 December 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Statistics on Internet Usage include data for Wales for the period 2007. The statistics have been taken from the 2007 Living in Wales survey, which is an annual Welsh household survey.

The key points from the bulletin are:

  • 63% of households had at least one personal computer at home in 2007. Of these, 86% had access to the Internet.
  • In 2007, 84% of those households with Internet access had access via a broadband connection, which is 3 times the proportion in 2004 (28%).
  • 91% of people aged 10 to 15 accessed the Internet ‘on most days’ in 2007 compared with only 22% of people aged 60 and over.
  • 78% of respondents in ‘non-working age households’ and 48% of ‘workless households’ had never accessed the Internet in 2007.
  • Only 5% of people aged 10 to 19 had never accessed the Internet in 2007.
