Welsh Transport Statistics 2009 – Chapter 7: Road Traffic

• It is estimated that the volume of motor vehicle traffic on all roads in Wales in 2008 was similar to that in 2007.
• The volume of traffic has however grown by almost 14 per cent since 1999.
• Traffic on minor roads accounted for 37 per cent of all traffic.
• Almost four-fifths (79 per cent) of the volume of traffic on all roads was accounted for by cars, taxis and minibuses.
• Traffic on motorways accounted for 12 per cent of all road traffic during 2008.
