The latest National Statistics on ‘Police Recorded Road Casualties: 2nd Quarter 2009 (provisional)’ produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were published on 14 January 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority Website That during the June quarter 2009, in Wales:

  • 23 road casualties were reported as killed
  • 274 were reported as seriously injured, and
  • 2,204 as slightly injured

Comparing the most recent 12 month period, that is July 2008 to June 2009, with the previous 12 month period, July 2007 to June 2008 shows:

  • All road casualties were down by 11 per cent;  and within this total
  • The numbers killed were 1 per cent higher
  • Seriously injured were 14 per cent lower
  • Slightly injured were 11 per cent lower
