  • The majority of pedal cycle casualties occur within 20 metres of a junction.
  • The majority of pedal cycle casualties occur in 30mph zones.
  • The majority of accidents occur in the second and third quarters.

  • The number of child (aged 0-15) pedal cycle casualties has declined since 1999.
  • Since 1999, children have accounted for almost 2 in 5 of all pedal cycle casualties.
  • The majority of child pedal cyclists casualties occur on roads with a 30 mph limit.
  • Since 1999, 74 per cent of pedal cycle casualties aged 0-15 occur in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the year.
