The latest National Statistics on ‘Police Recorded Road Casualties in Wales: Quarterly Provisional Estimates 3rd Quarter 2010’ produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were published on 3 February 2011 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

That during the September quarter 2010, in Wales:

  • 24 road casualties were reported as killed
  • 264 were reported as seriously injured, and
  • 2,298 as slightly injured

Comparing the most recent 12 month period, that is October 2009 to September 2010, with the previous 12 month period, October 2008 to September 2009, shows:

  • All road casualties were down by 7 per cent;  and within this total
  • The numbers killed were 26 per cent lower
  • Seriously injured were 11 per cent lower
  • Slightly injured were 7 per cent lower
