Police Recorded Road Casualties, Quarter 3 2011 (provisional)

The latest National Statistics on road casualties, produced by the Welsh Government, were published on 7 February 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Provisional estimates show that during the September quarter 2011, in Wales:

  • 32 road casualties were reported as killed.
  • 298 were reported as seriously injured.
  • 2,004 as slightly injured.

Comparing the most recent 12 month period, that is October 2010 to September 2011, with the previous 12 month period, October 2009 to September 2010, shows:

  • All road casualties were down by 7 per cent; and within this total:
  • The numbers killed were 14 per cent higher.
  • The number of  those seriously injured was 2 per cent higher.
  • Slightly injured were 8 per cent lower.
