Police Recorded Road Casualties, Quarter 1 2012 (Provisional)

The latest National Statistics on ‘Police Recorded Road Casualties in Wales: Quarterly Provisional Estimates 1st Quarter 2012’produced by the Welsh Government were published on 7th August 2012 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Provisional estimates show that during the March quarter 2012, in Wales:

  • 27 road casualties were reported as killed, 7 per cent less than the March quarter 2011,
  • 216 were reported as seriously injured, 8 per cent less than the March quarter 2011,
  • 1,804 as slightly injured, 7 per cent less than the March quarter 2011.

Comparing the most recent 12 month period, that is April 2011 to March 2012, with the previous 12 month period, April 2010 to March 2011, shows:

  • All road casualties were down by 7 per cent;  and within this total
  • The numbers killed were 28 per cent higher,
  • The number of those seriously injured were 6 per cent higher,
  • Slightly injured were 9 per cent lower.
