Information on Central Government health expenditure and revenue expenditure.

For Central Government Health Expenditure there are seven expenditure groups within the Health budget:

  • Local Health Boards and NHS Trusts
  • Education and Training
  • Family Health Services
  • Health Improvement
  • Health Promotion
  • Food Standards Agency
  • Welfare Foods

Expenditure by Local Health Boards, NHS Trusts, Dental Practice Board and Health Commission Wales are derived from the annual accounts and financial returns. These accounts are prepared on an accruals basis, reflecting the value of goods and services supplied in the year of account and the value of capital assets.

NHS Expenditure Programme Budgets provides a retrospective analysis of NHS resources broken down into ‘programmes’.
