One Wales: One Planet: A new sustainable development scheme for Wales

Sustainable Development Scheme Consultation Events

Welsh Ministers have a duty under section 79 of the Government of Wales Act 2006 to have a Scheme setting out how they propose to promote sustainable development. Jane Davidson AM, Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing recently announced her decision to remake this Scheme for Sustainable Development.  As part of the consultation on this, we are holding three consultation events across Wales.

The Scheme is a strategic document which brings together the outcomes the Welsh Assembly Government wants to achieve through existing One Wales commitments in terms of their impact for people and communities in Wales and it will also reflect the importance of setting out a pathway to Wales using only our fair share of the earth’s finite resources.  The Scheme will identify a number of new high level commitments to promote sustainable development.

The Welsh Assembly Government would like to encourage you to give us your views on the new Scheme.  The format for the day will include table discussions focussing on the consultation questions which are outlined in the consultation document.

The three consultation events are in Swansea, Llandudno and Aberystwyth, as follows:

  • 19th November 2008, the Grand Theatre, Swansea
  • 15th December 2008, Venue Cymru, Llandudno
  • 22 January 2009, the Morlan Centre, Aberystwyth.

Sessions are likely to start at 10.00am and end at 16:00, are free of charge, and lunch will be provided.

If you would like to attend one of these events, please register with Jenny Stimpson (sustainable.development@wales.gsi.gov.uk), using the attached form.
