Our research programme supports our key functions of developing the tourism industry and marketing Wales as a tourism destination.

Our annual research programme generates a wide range of data on the volume, value and characteristics of tourism in Wales. We evaluate the performance of key Visit Wales activities and support the Welsh tourism industry by providing data on performance.

We work closely with the Regional Tourism Partnerships, Local Authorities and national heritage and outdoor recreation bodies on tourism research matters.

We work closely with the other UK national tourism organisations and several of our major projects are run on a joint basis (e.g. Great Britain Tourism Survey 2011, Great Britain Day Visit Survey 2011).

Most of our research outputs are at a Wales level. We have some information at regional and local authority level but local authorities may well have a wider range of specific research information on their respective areas.

Some of our outputs are classed as official statistics. Information on the pre release access arrangements to these are available to download below.

Also available to download below is a document detailing our core work programme and a list of the scheduled publication dates of our outputs.
