Transport

Every person uses a form of transport at some point in their life.

Whether this is public transport, travelling by car, plane or train these services must be planned, built, maintained and improved.

Building a world-class 21st Century transport system that provides affordable, environmentally friendly road, rail, and air transport for business access to markets, and personal travel such as commuting is one of our One Wales commitments.

We implement transport policies and delivery of transport investment programmes. This includes:

  • the management, maintenance and improvement of the trunk road and motorway network in Wales
  • the client management role of the Wales and Borders Rail Franchise and delivery of rail infrastructure projects
  • the implementation of a range of initiatives and grant schemes designed to improve transport services within Wales.

From here you will find information on roads and rail, road safety, walking and cycling, sustainable transport and can view the Wales Transport Strategy.
