Welsh Transport Planning and Appraisal Guidance (WelTAG)

The Welsh Government now requires that major transport initiatives seeking government funding are appraised with this new guidance.

WelTAG enables practitioners to set transport objectives, plan, evaluate and monitor initiatives in accordance with the Wales Transport Strategy. Appraisal is centred around three main impact areas:

• Economy
• Environment
• Society.

WelTAG applies to transport initiatives that are in the planning stage, but does not apply to those that have completed statutory procedures. WelTAG is a live document and will be amended from time to time.
